Attracting Prosperity: To Obsess or Let Go?

A student recently asked me a really powerful question about the process of setting intentions and then waiting for them to manifest.

Do I obsess or do I let go? There seems to be a lot of conflicting information about what happens and what to do after you set your intention to attract abundance. I want to manifest money, but I don’t want to obsess about it. What tips can you give me to strike the balance between obsession and surrender?

One of the biggest issues that manifestors face when they get swept up in the excitement of manifesting something is that they get obsessive and it actually begins to create more resistance around the intention than they had before. For instance, if you want to manifest a certain amount of money by a certain time, it’s important to get into the swing of certain spiritual practices that can help you get out of your own way.

For instance, you could meditate, do my Ancient Manifesting Ritual, or exercise as a way to get out of your head, and into your heart and body. Tony Robbins says that “physiology changes psychology” which is why it’s so important to do other things than just sit around and obsess about the things/people/places and experiences that you desire to manifest.

The middle ground between obsession and letting go is the process of trusting that the Universe is busy orchestrating all of the elements required to deliver your intention into form.

Programming your sub-conscious mind and rewiring your beliefs is vital. Because when you do this it helps to cultivate the energy of positive expectation as well as training yourself to find the blessing in everything.

When you sit around and curse the Universe for taking her sweet-ass time, or perhaps reinforce the belief that you’re not worthy or that you’re broken in some way, then your vibration is omitting a destructive energy that will always prevent you from holding the space for your desires to manifest.

It might sound harsh, but obsessing is the most predominant trait of the anti-manifestor – essentially it’s the ultimate act of self-sabotage.

I bet you could think of someone that always obsesses about their weight and therefore never manages to drop the pounds they intend to no matter how they adjust their diet and exercise habits. Why?

It’s because obsession is the traffic jam of vibration.

It’s like you’re stuck on a freeway in LA traffic and you really need to use the bathroom. The chaos is the frantic nature of your obsession, but when you shine a spotlight on that pesky mother-effer then you can start to create some really empowering changes.

Letting go and surrendering is a deep spiritual practice. Honestly, I don’t know of any other way to release resistance around your desires that is as effective. It speeds up the manifesting process when you are open to all possibilities and you detach from being so hell-bent on attracting something super specific. The phrase: “This or something better” is tremendously helpful too.

I want you to remember that enthusiasm is one thing, but obsession can make you crazy.

Being obsessed with an outcome will separate you from your potential greatness. However, when you remember that it’s ALL about the journey and how fun it can be along the way when you say YES, you surrender, and you’re truly open to all possibilities, then your manifestations will be so sweet and rewarding.
