She’s Just Not That Into You Online or Anywhere Else

As women (and some men), we sometimes have to fend guys off in the offline world that we’re not interested in that take their chances and bust a move. Now it seems that it has to happen in the online world as well.

My experiences so far include…

One guy that wanted me to fly to Dubai for a date.  For Valentine’s Day on Twitter back in 2009, some guy wrote my username on his genitals as a romantic gesture. Keep in mind that SARAHPROUT is 10 letters! And no, this wasn’t my boyfriend that I met on Twitter, it was a totally random creepy guy that uploaded the video to a sex site. Let’s just say that it didn’t look like it was a particularly cold climate where he lives!

I’ve had marriage proposals, and also people asking me my bra size (10B at best, thanks for asking).

So I wrote this Facebook update yesterday to vent a bit of my frustration following a week of instant messages popping up from random guys…

If you’re a guy that likes my profile picture and just wants to chat with me because I’m a girl… then you’re out of luck my friend. I know what you’re up to, so don’t message me out of the blue saying ‘Hey, what’s up? Your beautiful’ because A. I’m happily spoken for and B. there’s a difference between YOUR and YOU’RE. The biggest piece of advice I could offer is that excellent grammar is sexy, Facebook messaging/stalking is creepy and your time is much better spent developing social skills in the real world to achieve the results you desire. Thank you, the Management ♥

I’m obviously not alone with this issue because there were close to 50 likes on this post and over 20 comments!

One lady (Athena Marina) commented that she had a “You’re Beautiful” comment when her profile picture was a frog on a motorbike!

As a businesswoman, my social media presence is a mixture of business and personal which is a decision I had to make early on. I guess and the beauty of Facebook is that I can click the magical ‘block’button whenever I wish based on what feels in alignment with my  intuition.

What has been your experience and what do you do? Has anyone tried to dirty flirt with you? Or have you been guilty of random messaging people you think are hot? I’d love to know. Please comment below.
