There’s the real you…and then there’s the online you. Are they the same?
Think about how you connect. How you present yourself online. Are you as authentic as you’d like to be?
Do you hold yourself back because you fear being judged? Do you judge others? Are there some people that you just can’t stand and barely tolerate, but are compelled to find out what they’re doing anyway? Do you try to get people’s approval? Are there people you stalk?
Are you boring? Are you shy? Are you too intense and use too many exclamation marks and CAPS!!!!! Is it ALL about you? Does it feel like it’s all about everyone else?
And here’s the big one..
Do you feel obligated? Bleh. Please don’t ask me to like your FB page if you’ve liked mine. It’s not tit for tat. The essence of obligation and ‘shoulds’ is as loaded as something pooey sticking to your shoe. Make that expensive shoes. Perhaps Laboutin, god forbid!
Finding your flow in the online realm is about noting how you feel when you interact with people, and doing what you feel in alignment with.
I heard the most amazing snippet of wisdom today from the beautiful writer Sera Beak.
She said:
I let go of everything that didn’t feel authentic to my soul in order to let my soul define me.”
I thought about how powerful this concept is to apply to your life in general. And I also pondered how the soul of my online identity needs an authenticity audit sometimes to make sure I am in alignment with my intention tojust be me in an online space that I keep energetically clear.
This means…
Bye bye spammers, scammers, stalkers, copy-cats, naysayers, friends that aren’t real, fakers and perverts. Block, unfollow, unsubscribe. Oh, and if your profile picture is more boobs than face or displaying seedy pantlessness exposing your Nether region, then I’m going to report you. Thank-you, The Management.
It’s time to cultivate your own micro online Universe of inspirational souls that feed your sense of awe, appreciation and interests. It’s time to collaborate, energise from the success of others, plan for creative outbursts and CREATE YOUR OWN SACRED SOCIAL MEDIA SPACE. There are so many amazing people out there and YOU are one of them for taking the time to read this (it means the world to me, it really does xoxo).
